A Major TNA PPV Change, Jenna's TNA Future?, Backstage News Reported by: EWF Date: July 25, 2009
A story recently floating around (said tobe by a TNA official) saying Jenna Morasca was being paid strictlybased on the amount of publicity she generates for TNA was laughed atby one company source.
A decision has been made within TNA todo almost all of the Pay Per View events out of the Impact Zone inOrlando, Fl as a cost saver. The rest of the company's PPV events in2009 in August, September, November and December will be held inOrlando with the exception of Bound For Glory on October 18 which willbe held in Irvine, CA. The company will also be returning to tapingtelevision once every two weeks in August again after trying out adifferent formula in June and July taping four weeks of TV over thecourse of three days. As expected, taping that much TV and spreading itout over four weeks caused many continuity problems.
Last Saturday's live event in Winston-Salem, North Carolina drew 650 fans. ______________________________________
Update: Former WWE Champion JBL In Talks With TNA Reported by: EWF Date: July 24, 2009
Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter
FormerWWE Champion John Bradshaw Layfield appeared on Live Audio Wrestlingthis past Sunday and said the reason he's no longer with WWE is thatwhen he retired as an active wrestler at WrestleMania in Houston, theydidn't offer him anything. He indicated if he was offered an announceposition or role as General Manager, he'd have been interested.
Inhindsight, it would appear that it was a mistake for Layfield to giveup his announcing gig at the end of 2007 and go back to wrestlingbecause he likely never would have been replaced as an announcer. Hecame back because he was 40 years old and unhappy with how his careerended, believed his back had recovered enough for him to wrestle again, and knew if he didn't come back at that point the window of opportunitywould close. Unfortunately, his back hadn't recovered and he was inpain pretty much the entire last run. He has admitted being unhappywith how limited he was in the ring.
While this wasn't broughtup during his radio show appearance, it has been confirmed that he hashad talks with TNA about joining the company. Nothing as of yet hasmaterialized. _______________________________________
Ric Flair Trashes Bret Hart On Canadian Radio Reported by: EWF Date: July 24, 2009
During an appearance on the Live AudioWrestling radio show in Canada, Ric Flair sounded off on fellow WWEHall of Famer Bret Hart, saying:
"He is a pissant in thehistory of wrestling. He has the nerve to compare himself to me. Let'sget realistic. If you put Bret Hart in your left hand and me in yourright hand, compare the career...who is he? I wrestled everybody in thebusiness, for an hour each night. Harley Race, Dory Funk, Jack andJerry Brisco, who is Bret Hart? He is a legend in his own mind. Helives in his own little world...he screws his own family around. Who isBret Hart? In my world he is a nobody!"
The bad bloodbetween the two apparently began in 2005 when Bret referred to Flair as"the most overrated guy in the history of the business."
