J.R.'s Superstar of the Week-Shawn Michaels Empty

Quote :
Greetings from under the 200X, black Resistol hat from a barbecue lovin’ Oklahoma Sooner who has had an exciting week in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and in Orlando, Fla., where promotion for WrestleMania 24 has gotten underway in grand fashion.

This week’s Raw Superstar of the Week is The Showstopper himself, Shawn Michaels, who not only created an opportunity for Mr. McMahon to soil himself when the two polar opposites had a verbal confrontation in the ring, but also was Johnny-on-the-spot when Triple H was in danger of being physically exiled from the WWE by the dangerous duo of WWE Champion Randy “I am a Beautiful Man” Orton and the large Samoan SUV known as Umaga.

For his efforts, HBK will receive delicious items from www.jrsbarbq.com, including Shawn’s favorites, J.R.’s Jalapeño Honey Mustard and mouthwatering beef jerky.

In other big news regarding HBK, Shawn gets his much-deserved rematch with Orton at Survivor series in Miami on Sunday, Nov. 18, thanks to the “benevolent” Mr. McMahon. For some reason, this “act of fairness” sounds too good to be true.

It was quite the Diva Battle Royal on Raw Monday night with the lovely ladies competing in their Halloween costumes. When the talented women of WWE all gathered in the proverbial squared circle, it looked like an outtake from Nip/Tuck, not that there is anything wrong with that. I know that many miss the injured Candice Michelle, who may return to action from her broken collarbone, perhaps to the chagrin (love that word) of Women’s Champion the “Glamazon” Beth Phoenix, who did not appear in The Devil Wears Prada film.

Wasn’t it nice of Mr. McMahon to tell all of us that parts of Shawn Michaels’ soul were “rotten”? With the Chairman quoting the “Good Book,” it’s a miracle there weren’t any lightning strikes in Philly. Whew!

Nice tag team effort for Hardcore Holly and his partner, Cody “I did not learn the dropkick from my Dad” Rhodes, as they defeated the underrated duo of Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas, the Self-Proclaimed World’s Greatest Tag Team. It still doesn’t appear that there is much love between Holly and Rhodes, perhaps like Dog the Bounty Hunter and the Rev. Al Sharpton.

Did the scene with Trevor Murdoch and Mickie James remind anyone else of a Deliverance meets The Farmer’s Daughter moment? I could see these two Raw Superstars heading to a drive-in theatre near you any weekend now.

Lance Cade, Murdoch’s partner and one-half of the World Tag Team Champions, is a big-time young hand who seems to have the potential to make his mark in WWE in single’s contests down the road. Cade, an Omaha native, has quite the upside and was trained originally by HBK down in San Antonio.

It seems obvious that Paul London has his hands full with the hot-tempered Brian Kendrick but this Midnight Rocker-like combo is one of my favorite teams to watch in the ring. The overall tag team scene on Raw is rapidly improving.

Even though his father called him a “toad” and a “frog” earlier in the night, Hornswoggle McMahon, with an assist from special referee Mick Foley, overcame his father’s scorn and scored quite the upset of Jonathan Coachman Monday night in Philly. “Horny” delivered quite the Frog Splash (or is it a Tadpole Splash?) on Raw General Manager William Regal’s erstwhile assistant. But who assigned Mrs. Foley’s baby boy Mick as the special referee?? Ah, the plot thickens.

Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy and DH Smith had a helluva tag team match versus Mr. Kennedy and Carlito Monday night, but I look for all four of these Superstars to concentrate on their individual careers going forward. Though it wouldn’t hurt my feelings to see a return match between these two teams in the future.

From all the reports that I have seen, 22 year-old DH, son of the late “British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith, has been impressive at WWE live events and is turning the heads of veteran WWE officials. I don’t see how this young man can miss, as he has that vaunted Hart Family blood in him, too, which should bode well for the youngster.

Uh, Santino, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin will most likely pay you a visit Monday night on Raw from the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. I hope Marella is ready for the “can of ass whip” to be opened on him … and Britney Spears who is NOT scheduled to be at Raw in the City of Angels, but one never knows does one??

Congratulations to Eve Torres for winning the 2007 WWE Diva Search. I am sure that interesting days lie ahead for the Southern California beauty, who is one of the more athletic divas many WWE insiders have seen in the Diva Search since its inception.

I have serious doubts if Triple H has seen the last of Umaga, or “U-Man-Ga” as William Regal might say. Matches with big, heavy hitters like the Samoan Bulldozer take a physical toll on the opponents of Mr. McMahon’s designated hitter, but The Game seems to not be concerned with that likely consequence.

DX is getting back together Monday night in L.A. for “one night only,” according to the Chairman of WWE. What lies in store for Triple H and HBK this Monday on Raw? It might well be a long night in California for DX. But then again …

Yours truly will be introducing the Oklahoma Sooners starting offensive and defensive lineups at the University of Oklahoma’s college football game against Texas A&M on ABC Saturday night. I hope you will check it out. It is a “Survivor Series-like” game for both Big 12 teams.

Thanks for reading our weekly space right here and for checking out www.jrsbarbq.com. Be well, and we will see you Monday Night on the USA Network for Raw, LIVE from Los Angeles!

BOOMER SOONER!
J.R.

With Shawn getting his rematch for the WWE Title and making an impact on Randy Orton in the main-event of Raw, I guess he isn't a bad selection.

I like JR's reports, and I guess Shawn Michaels would be the best choice for this past week, No one else really stood out to me this week.
